Cereal & Cartoons. A nostalgic duo reminiscent of Saturday morning in the 90’s! Growing up I loved sugary cereals like Fruity Pebbles, Cocoa Puffs, Captain Crunch, etc. After making this lifestyle change, I don’t crave sweets much. I even like stevia now! I never use white, granulated sugar in anything I eat. Usually, Stevia, coconut sugar or honey are my go-to sweeteners- in that order.
I decided to make this cereal because there is way too much sugar in cereal. While at Trader Joe’s I saw this new Organic Purple Maize Flakes, which is Purple Corn Flakes (maize is Spanish for corn). This cereal is organic and gluten-free! Intrigued, I picked it up and took it home! Next, I found some organic raisins and added that to my cart too. I don’t usually buy/eat raisins but I was craving them so, this time, they came home with me.
When I got home, I started to make a, some-what, version of Raisin Bran cereal and decided to add nuts & coconut. I would have added slices of banana but I didn’t have any. Feel free to play with this cereal bowl! If you don’t have walnuts, use pecans or whatever nuts you have at home. Don’t like raisins? Add chopped dates! The possibilities are endless.
