You are probably looking at the picture thinking “Where is the hammock?!” Well, let me explain. The name of this Protein Shake, Blueberry Hammock, came from the 2 ingredients that make this shake unique: Blueberries & Maca Powder. In Spanish a hammock is translated to “hamaca”. Growing up, my family called a hammock “maca”- We had one in our yard. Somehow we made it happen in the city! If you are wondering what Maca Powder is, it is known as one of the Super Foods. Grown in Peru, Maca Powder is known to give us energy, aid in skin issues and help with mood balance. Beyond that, it has many vitamins and minerals for a balanced daily diet. Maca powder is, I believe, reasonably priced and lasts a while so it is worth the investment. This Blueberry Hammock is a great recipe for a meal replacer, pre- or post-workout boost or great between meals, depending on your current diet.
- 2 Cups Almond Milk
- 1 handful of blueberries
- 1 tbsp maca powder
- 1 tbsp almond butter (or peanut butter)
- 1 scoop protein powder (I used Sun Warrior)
- ½ banana, for sweetness
- 2 tsp bee pollen, optional
- 6 ice cubes
- Blend all ingredients in a blender and enjoy!
